Samsung was getting ready to officially introduce the Galaxy A7 in South Korea sometime soon. Korean website Ruliweb has more details about this, saying that the A7 will be announced in the country on January 14, alongside the Galaxy A5 (it was already available).

As previously reported, the A7 will be the largest, and most advanced handset in Samsung’s Galaxy A series. It will also be the company’s thinnest smartphone ever, measuring 150.9*75.9*6.3 mm.

It looks like the Galaxy A7 will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat on board, though we obviously expect it to be updated to Lollipop not long after launch. That aside, the new Galaxy offers a 5.5-inch display with 1080*1920 pixels, 5 MP front-facing camera, 13 MP rear camera, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of expandable storage space, and a 2500 mAh battery. An octa-core 1.5 GHz processor is powering the A7, most probably being a 64-bit Snapdragon 615.

Besides Korea, the Galaxy A7 will also be released in China. We’ve yet to find out if Samsung plans to sell the A7 globally, or just in Asia, but we should hear more on the matter after the handset is announced.
