Google has announced that they are making their premium $149 worth Nik Collection photography software completely free to download and use. Google acquired Nik collection desktop suite in 2012 and it features a wide array of photo editing tools that will make your pictures look like a professional took them. This software suite is largely famous among professional photographers and releasing it free will bring these tools to more people.

The Nik Collection is comprised of seven desktop plug-ins that provide a powerful range of photo editing capabilities – from filter applications that improve color correction, to retouching and creative effects, to image sharpening that brings out all the hidden details, to the ability to make adjustments to the color and tonality of images.

Google wants to promote its Google Photos and Snapseed and releasing Nik Collection desktop suite for free could help this cause. In addition to releasing the Nik collection for free, Google is also offering refund to users who purchased the software in 2016.

If you purchased the Nik Collection in 2016, you will receive a full refund, which we will automatically issue back to you in the coming days.

We are excited to bring the powerful photo editing tools once only used by professionals to even more people now.

Here are all the programs that are part of the Nik Collection

Analog Efex Pro: Explore the look and feel of classic cameras, films, and lenses.

Color Efex Pro: A comprehensive set of filters for color correction, retouching, and creative effects.
