Learn how to view about device on your Samsung Galaxy Tab 4. This menu contains legal information, system tutorial information, and other phone information such as the model number, firmware version, baseband version, kernal version, and software build number.

To access phone information:

  • From the Settings screen, touch General > About device. The following information displays:
    • Software update: Update your phone software, if available.
    • Status: View the status of your device. Battery status, Battery level, Network, Signal strength, and so on, are displayed as described on the screen.
      Legal information: Display Open source licenses and Google legal information. This information clearly provides copyright and distribution legal information and facts as well as Google Terms of Service, Terms of Service for Android-powered Phones, and much more pertinent information as a reference.
    • Device name: Enter the name for your device. The default is the model number: SAMSUNG-SM-T537A.
    • Model number: Phones model number.
    • Android version: Android version loaded on this phone.
    • Baseband version: Baseband version loaded on this phone.
    • Kernel version: Kernel version loaded on this phone.
    • Build number: Software build number.
    • SE for Android status: Display Security Enhancements for Android status information.

Note: Baseband, kernal, and build numbers are usually used for updates to the handset or support.

Note

This guide will work on all Samsung Galaxy Tabs; including Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0, Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1.
