Learn how to use VPN on your Samsung Galaxy Tab 4. The VPN settings menu can be used to set up and manage Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). Before using VPN, you must first set up a screen unlock PIN or password.

Note: Before you can use a VPN you must establish and configure one.

Adding a Basic VPN

Before you add a VPN you must determine which VPN protocol to use: PPTP, L2TP/IPSec PSK, L2TP/IPSec RSA, IPSec Xauth PSK, IPSec Xauth RSA, or IPSec Hybrid RSA.

  • From the Settings screen, touch Connections > More networks > VPN.
  • Touch Basic VPN.
  • Touch Add icon.
  • Enter a name for the VPN network in the Name field.
  • Select a VPN type from the Type drop-down menu.
  • Enter the Server address and any other required fields that are dependent upon the Type you entered previously.
  • Touch the Show advanced options check box to display additional VPN options.
  • Touch Save to save your VPN settings.

Adding an IPsec VPN

  • From the Settings screen, touch Connections > More networks > VPN.
  • Touch Advanced IPsec VPN.
  • Touch Add VPN Connection.
  • Enter a name for the VPN connection in the VPN connection name field.
  • Select a IPsec connection type from the drop-down menu.
  • Enter any other required information.
  • Touch Show advanced options to display additional VPN options.
  • Touch Save to save your VPN settings.

Ethernet

Manage your ethernet connection and ethernet device.

  • From the Settings screen, touch Connections > More networks > Ethernet.
  • Touch Ethernet and follow the onscreen instructions to connect to an ethernet network.

Note

This guide will work on all Samsung Galaxy Tabs; including Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0, Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1.
