Samsung App Store Crosses 100 Million Downloads

Samsung being a leader in Mobile Phone and TVs, is now boasting that its App Store has has now joined the 100 million download club. Samsung has reached this milestone just after 10 months after it launched, thanks to European market. France had the most number of downloads followed by Germany and Spain, and the three countries combined accounted for 40 percent of all downloads from the store, which now has more than 13,000 apps.

The company set up the Samsung Apps website to offer people software applications aimed at TVs and mobile devices such as Facebook and Twitter. The website reached 10 million downloads in three months. Samsung said it is anticipating that Samsung Apps will show a rapid growth in 2011.

In contrary Apple’s App store has seen over 10 billion downloads, since July 8, 2008 for iOS devices (iPhone, iPad and iPod). There are over 350,000 iPhone apps and 65,000 iPad apps are available in Apple App Store.

Samsung also said that it will celebrate the 100 million download milestone by offering weekly prizes for anyone who download from Samsung App store between March 25 and April 30, 2011. The prizes include Samsung Galaxy Tabs, Galaxy Player, USB sticks and vouchers for Samsung Apps.
