Nokia N9 Hands On

Nokias long awaited MeeGo smartphone have finally landed, we got the images and video for you. The device is well designed and got a gorgeous AMOLED screen, and some highly responsive performance. The N9s UI MeeGo 1.2 built around three core home views. The central one is app organizer/ launcher, one side is notifications and activities session will be phone calls, calendar, and social network updates, other one is live app switcher. All are navigable in a carousel fashion. Double tapping the screen wakes the phone up and you can unlock the screen by swiping your finger in any direction. Similar swipes get you to the home screen and exit apps. The aged OMAP 3630 processor does really well in the phone, animations are good, navigation looks natural, and this marks a major advance over anything Nokia has given software for touch based UI.

It is a well-built device, they are calling it polycarbonate in order to highlight that this is not any just old plastic; its a high grade variety. The phone is built into an external shell, the battery is not user replaceable, and there is no micro SD expandability, but you can swap the MicroSIM card without needing to reboot. The clear black AMOLED screen is truly good and viewing angles, a curved Gorilla glass front, and good performance out in sunlight. The screen seems to be a great strength for the N9. The UI, responsiveness, and good catching design are pretty high too. We are really impressed by the Nokia N9.
