How To Use Voice Memo App – Samsung Galaxy Alpha

Learn how to use voice memo app on your Samsung Galaxy Alpha.

Recording voice memos

• Tap Voice Recorder on the Apps screen.
• Tap Start icon to start recording. Speak into the microphone. Tap Pause icon to pause recording. To cancel recording, tap Cancel icon. Tap Stop icon to finish recording.
• While recording a voice memo, tap Bookmark icon to insert a bookmark.
• To set the device to remove background noise, tap Menu icon > Setting, and then tick Noise reduction.

Saving files with contextual tags

Add contextual tags, such as locations and dates, to file names when saving voice memos.

• Tap Menu icon > Settings, and tick Contextual file name. The device adds the recording date to a file name. To add the location where a voice memo is recorded, tap Menu icon > Settings, and then tick Locations tags.

Playing voice memos

• Tap Voice Recorder on the Apps screen.
• Tap Apps icon and select a voice memo to play.
  • Cut icon: Trim the voice memo.
  • Playback icon: Set a portion of the voice memo for loop playback.
  • Speed icon: Adjust the playback speed.
  • Silent icon: Skip a silent portion in the voice memo.
  • Bookmark icon: Insert bookmarks in the voice memo.
  • Pause icon: Pause or resume playback.
  • Previous / Next icon: Skip to the previous or next voice memo.

Using the bookmarks list

You can mark specific points in a voice memo with bookmarks. Each bookmark is marked with a bookmark icon on the voice memo.

• To view the bookmark details while a voice memo is playing, tap Menu icon is playing, tap Menu icon > Bookmarks. Select a bookmark from the bookmark list to play the voice memo from that position.

Managing voice memos

• On the Apps screen, tap Voice Recorder > Apps icon.
• Tap Search icon to search for voice memos.
• Tap Delete icon to delete voice memos.
• Tap Menu icon and select one of the following:
  • Select: Select voice memos to apply options:
  • Sort by: Change the sorting method.
  • Filter by category: View memos filtered by a category.
  • Edit categories: Add, delete, or rename categories.
  • Settings: Change the voice recorder settings.

Rename voice memos

• Tap and hold the voice memo, tap Menu icon > Rename, enter a new name for the voice memo, and then tap OK.

Managing categories

• Tap Menu icon > Edit categories > Add icon, enter a category name, select a color, and then tap Done.
• To change or assign voice memo categories, in the list of voice memos, tap and hold the voice memo. Then, tap Menu icon > Change category, and then select the category.
• To filter voice memos by category, tap Menu icon > Filter by category, and then select the category.
