Learn how to use Device Administrator on your Samsung Galaxy Note Pro. Enabling this option causes your tablet and personal data to be more vulnerable to attack by applications from unknown sources.

  • From a Home screen, touch Apps icon > Settings icon > Security.
  • Touch Device administrators to add or remove device administrators.
  • Touch Unknown sources to enable or disable installation of non-Google Play applications. An informational pop-up displays.
  • Read the message and touch OK to allow installation of non-Google Play applications.

Note: Enabling this option causes your tablet and personal data to be more vulnerable to attack by applications from unknown sources.

  • Touch Verify apps to block or warn before installing apps that may cause harm.
  • Touch Change security level to modify the security level for credential files.

Security Update Service

To set security update service settings:

  • From a Home screen, touch Apps icon > Settings icon > Security.
  • Touch Security policy updates for these options:
    • Automatic updates: Automatically check for changes to the security policy and download any updates to improve security.
    • Preferred networks: Set whether to use Wi-Fi or mobile networks or Wi-Fi networks only.
    • Check for updates: Check for updates manually.
    • Touch Send security reports to send security reports to Samsung via Wi-Fi for threat analysis.

Credential Storage

If a certificate authority (CA) certificate gets compromised or for some other reason you do not trust it, you can disable or remove it.

  • From a Home screen, touch Apps icon > Settings icon > Security.
  • Touch Storage type to set a storage type for credential contents.
  • Touch Trusted credentials.The trusted credentials screen has two tabs:
    • System: Displays CA certificates that are permanently installed in the ROM of your device.
    • User: Displays any CA certificates that you installed, for example, in the process of installing a client certificate.
  • Touch a CA certificate to examine its details. A scrolling screen displays the details. Scroll to the bottom of the details screen and touch Turn off to disable a System certificate.

Note: When you disable a system CA certificate, the Turn off button changes to Turn on, so you can enable the certificate again, if necessary.

  • Touch OK to return to the certificate list.
  • Touch Install from phone storage, then choose a certificate and follow the prompts to install encrypted certificates stored on the USB storage. You must have installed a memory card (not included) containing encrypted certificates to use this feature.
  • Touch Clear credentials, which only appears if you have installed encrypted certificates, to erase the credential contents from the device and reset the password.
