Learn how to useCall Settings on your Samsung Galaxy S5. The Call settings menu allows you to modify your settings for making calls with your phone.

  • From the main Settings screen, tap Call icon.
    or
  • From the Home screen, tap Call icon > Menuicon > Settings.

The following options are available:

Call rejection

  • From the main Settings screen, tap Call icon > Call rejection.
  • Tap Auto reject mode and tap one of the following options:
    • Off: to turn Auto reject mode off.
    • All incoming calls: to reject all calls.
    • Auto reject numbers: to reject all calls in your Reject list.
    • Tap Auto reject list.
    • Tap + icon to manually add numbers to the Reject list.
    • Tap Unknown, to create a checkmark and automatically reject all calls that are not in your Contacts list.

Set up call rejection messages

  • From the main Settings screen, tap Call icon > Call rejection > Set up call rejection messages.
  • Tap + icon to manually add a reject message.

Tap one of the pre-written messages to be displayed when you want the call to be rejected. You can edit the message if desired.

  • Tap Save to save the reject message.

Answering and ending calls

  • From the main Settings screen, tap Call icon > Answering and ending calls.

The following options are available:

  • Pressing the home key: Tap this option to be able to accept incoming calls by pressing the Home key.
  • Voice control: Tap this option to be able to accept incoming calls by using your voice.
  • Waving hand over device: Tap this option to answer a call by waving your hand over the device.
  • Pressing the power key: This option will allow you to end a call by pressing the power key without turning off the screen.

Call notification pop-ups

This option allows you to have incoming call notifications pop-up on your display if an application is open on the screen.

  • From the main Settings screen, tap Call icon.
  • Tap Call notification pop-ups to create a checkmark and activate the feature.

In-call status pop-ups

This option allows you to have in-call status information displayed in a pop-up if an application is open on the screen.

  • From the main Settings screen, tap Call icon.
  • Tap In-call status pop-ups to create a checkmark and activate the feature.

Show caller information

This option displays a callers recent social network activity and the history of your communication with them when a call is received.

  • From the main Settings screen, tap Call icon.
  • Tap Show caller information to create a checkmark and activate the feature.

Call alerts

  • From the main Settings screen, tap Call icon > Call alerts.

Tap the following options to create a checkmark and activate the features:

  • Vibrate when answered: enables your phone to vibrate when the called party answers the phone.
  • Call-end vibration: enables your phone to vibrate when the call ends.
  • Call connect tone: plays a tone when a call is connected.
  • Minute minder: beeps twice every minute that you are on a call.
  • Call end tone: plays a tone when a call is ended.
  • Notify during calls: turns on alarm and message notifications during a call.

Call Accessories

  • From the main Settings screen, tap Call icon > Call accessories.

The following options are available:

  • Automatic answering: configures the device to automatically answer and incoming call when a headset is detected.
  • Automatic answering timer: configures the time delay before the device automatically accepts the incoming call.
  • Outgoing call conditions: allows you to make calls even when the device is locked.

Additional settings

  • From the main Settings screen, tap Call icon > Additional settings.

Tap one of the following options:

  • Caller ID: allows you to choose how your Caller ID will be displayed. Select Network default, Hide number, or Show number.
  • Call forwarding: allows you to forward your calls to another number.
  • Auto area code: allows you to automatically prepend a specific area code to all outbound calls.
  • Call waiting: the network service informs you when someone is trying to reach you during another call. Tap to activate.
  • Auto redial: automatically redials the last number if the call was either cut off or was unable to connect. Tap to activate.
  • Fixed dialing numbers: allows you to restrict outgoing calls to a limited set of phone numbers.
  • TTY mode: allows you to connect your phone and a TTY device via a special cable that plugs into your phones headset jack. If this cable was not provided with your TTY device, contact your TTY device manufacturer to purchase the connector cable.
  • Hearing aids: allows you to improve the sound quality of your phone when you are using a hearing aid.

Ringtones and keypad tones

This option allows you to personalize the sounds you hear when your phone rings and when you press the keypad.

  • From the main Settings screen, tap Call icon > Ringtones and keypad tones.
  • Tap Ringtones, select a ringtone, and tap OK.
  • Tap Vibrations, select a vibration type, and tap OK.
  • Tap Vibrate when ringing to create a checkmark if you want your phone to vibrate when a call is incoming.
  • Tap Dialing keypad tone to create a checkmark if you want tones to play when the keypad is pressed.

Personalize call sound

This option allows you to personalize the sounds you hear during a call with and without earphones.

  • From the main Settings screen, tap Call icon > Personalize call sound.

At the Personalize call sound display, tap one of the following options:

  • Adapt sound: allows you to customize your sounds. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your personal call sound.
  • Soft sound: plays a softer sound when the other party is in a noisy environment.
  • Clear sound: plays a clearer sound when the other party sounds unclear or muffled.
  • Off: turns off your customized call sound and plays the default sounds.

Noise reduction

This option helps to suppress background noise from your side during a call.

  • From the main Settings screen, tap Call icon > Noise reduction to create a checkmark and enable the feature.

Sound

This option allows you select your default ringtone that you receive whenever you get a call.

  • From the main Settings screen, tap Call icon > Sound.
  • Tap a ringtone to hear it played.
  • Select a ringtone and tap OK.

Vibrate

This option allows you turn on vibration when you receive a call.

  • From the main Settings screen, tap Call icon.
  • Tap Vibrate to create a checkmark and activate the Vibrate feature.
