Sony has announced that it plans to launch the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades for the Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V, and Xperia ray in the middle of April. The roll-out will be gradual and is expected to take four to six weeks to complete. Sony says the upgrade will require users to use their PC or Mac to install it, and it will not be made available over-the-air. Owners of the Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY, Xperia neo, Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active, and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman can expect to see their upgrades arrive at the end of May or early June.

Microsoft has decided to shutdown Windows Market place for Mobile. In May of last year Microsoft stopped accepting new app submissions, now the store is being scheduled for complete shutdown on May 9th of 2012.

HTC is finally rolling out their infamous Sense UI 3.6 with Ice Cream Sandwich for HTC’s “legacy devices”. The first one to receive this update are the owners of the Sensation and Sensation XE in the Nordic countries.

OnLive users may have been enjoying unlimited game access since December, but now Game provider Exent has brought its subscription platform to Android tablets and offers unlimited access to titles such as Fruit Ninja, Baseball Superstars and T-Racer HD. The service rolls in at a cent under six dollars a month, and there’s a three-day free trial for those with commitment issues. For those who worried about the battery life of your expensive EV, Envia has revealed a new cell that boasts a record breaking energy density of 400Wh/kg (most currently offer between 100 and 150). It’s estimated that when commercialized, this could bring the cost of a 300-mile range EV down to as little as $20,000. The performance gains come from a special manganese-rich cathode and silicon-carbon nano-composite anode combination. The battery maker is also partly owned by GM, which unsurprisingly means we’re likely to see these very cells in its EVs in the future. For more info read the press release.

Samsung is about to launch “premium HD video content” to Media Hub after pairing up Qualcomm’s StudioAccess and ARM’s TrustZone DRM systems. The first device that will benefit from the rollout is the Galaxy Note thanks to its enormous 1280 x 800 HD display.

Sony’s odd, dual-screened, folding Tablet P is finally getting a “4G” version for the US market with courtesy of AT&T. In this case, those 4G speeds are being “delivered” by an HSPA+ radio, a fact that carrier managed to bury in the PR. The Honeycomb device will be bringing its unique set of 5.5-inch screens to Ma Bell starting March 4th for the rather steep price of $400 with a two year contract. If you don’t want to sign your soul over you can pick one up unsubsidized for $550, which is still quite a bit less than the cost of importing one of its 500 UK siblings.
