Samsung used the swipe type of sensor where you had to swipe your thumb (or other finger) over the Home button, which wasn’t always easy to do while holding a 5+ inch smartphone.

Insiders claim that the company will be moving to the other kind of sensor – one that reads your fingerprint from your stationary digit. You just place your finger (at any angle) and hold it for a moment, that’s how it works on the iPhones and the Huawei Ascend Mate 7. To accommodate the new sensor, Samsung has made the Home key on the upcoming Galaxy S6 bigger. It’s not clear if it will work while the screen is off (like on the Ascend Mate 7) or not (like on the iPhones).

The sensor will still offer the extensive TouchWiz functionality, including Private mode, Pay with PayPal, as well as signing into Samsung Account and supported websites. The Samsung Galaxy S6 will use a new TouchWiz software and may come in two versions – regular and Edge. The regular one will pack a QHD screen, the dual-sided Edge screen will be a bit above that.
