New Features On Android 5.0 Lollipop

Google officially revealed the Android 5.0 Lollipop and Nexus devices, but the company did not make the Android 5.0 available for download to the users immediately.

Instead they said that 2013 and older Nexus devices will Lollipop update at an unspecified time in coming weeks, with new Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 supposed to launch with Lollipop. Google says on Twitter that developers will get access to a new Lollipop build later this week in anticipation of it final release. Developers, get ready for Android 5.0 Lollipop! Check back 10/17 for Android 5.0 SDK & updated Nexus preview images, Google wrote on Twitter.

  • More intelligent ranking of notifications based on who theyre from and the type of communication. See all your notifications in one place by tapping the top of the screen

  • A battery saver feature which extends device use by up to 90 mins
  • Estimated time left to fully charge is displayed when your device is plugged in
  • Estimated time left on your device before you need to charge again can now be found in battery settings

  • SELinux enforcing for all applications means even better protection against vulnerabilities and malware

  • Multiple users for phones. If you forget your phone, you still can call any of your friends (or access any of your messages, photos etc.) by simply logging into another Android phone running Lollipop. Also perfect for families who want to share a phone, but not their stuff
