How To Use Video Player On Sony Xperia Z3

Learn how to use video player on your Sony Xperia Z3. Use the Movies application to play movies and other video content that youve saved or downloaded to your device. The Movies application also helps you get poster art, plot summaries, genre info and director details for each movie. You can also play your movies on other devices that are connected to the same network.

Note: Some video files may not be playable in the Movies application.

  • 1. View menu option
  • 2. Display the most recently played video
  • 3. Drag the left edge of the screen to the right to browse all downloaded and saved videos
  • 4. Tap to play saved or downloaded video files
  • 5. Scroll up or down to view content

Note: Sony Entertainment Network with Video Unlimited and Music Unlimited is not available in every market. Separate subscription required. Additional terms and conditions apply.

To play a video in Movies

  • From your Home screen, tap Apps icon, then find and tap Movies.
  • Find and tap the video that you want to play. If the video is not displayed on the screen, drag the left edge of the screen to the right to open the Movies home screen menu, then find and tap the video that you want to play.
  • To display or hide the controls, tap the screen.
  • To pause playing, tap Pause icon. To resume playing, tap Play icon.
  • To rewind, drag the progress bar marker to the left. To fast forward, drag the progress bar marker to the right.

To play a video on an external device

  • When the video is playing, tap the screen to display all the controls.
  • Tap Menu icon > Throw.
  • Select an external device on which to play the video. If there is no external device available, follow the on-screen instructions to add one.

To change settings in Movies

  • From your Home screen, tap Apps icon, then find and tap Movies.
  • Tap Menu icon > Settings, then change the settings as desired.

To change the sound settings while a video is playing

  • While a video is playing, tap the screen to display the controls.
  • Tap Menu icon, then tap Sound settings.
  • Mark the checkboxes for the sound settings that you want to activate.
  • When you’re finished, tap OK.

To share a video

  • When a video is playing, tap Menu icon, then tap Share.
  • In the menu that opens, tap the application that you want to use to share the selected video, then follow the relevant steps to send it.

Transferring video content to your device

Before you start using the Movies application, its a good idea to transfer movies, TV shows and other video content to your device from other devices, such as a computer. There are several ways to transfer your content:

  • Connect your device to a computer using a USB cable and drag and drop the video files directly using the file manager application on the computer.
  • If you have a PC, use the Media Go application from Sony to organise content and transfer video files to your device via the PC. To learn more and download the Media Go application, go to Sony.
  • If your computer is an Apple Mac, you can use Sony Bridge for Mac to transfer video files from iTunes to your device. To learn more and download Sony Bridge for
    Mac, go to Sony.

Managing video content

To get movie information manually

  • Make sure that your device has an active data connection.
  • From your Home screen, tap Apps icon, then find and tap Movies.
  • Drag the left edge of the screen to the right to open the Movies home screen menu, then browse through the different categories and to the video file that you want to get information.
  • Touch and hold the thumbnail for the video, then tap Search for info.
  • In the search field, enter keywords for the video, then tap the confirm key on the keyboard. All matches are displayed in a list.
  • Select a search result, then tap Done. The download of the information begins.

Note: You can get information about newly added videos automatically every time the Movies application opens if you mark the Get video details checkbox under Settings.

Note: If the downloaded information is not correct, search again using different keywords.

To clear information about a video

  • From your Home screen, tap Apps icon, then find and tap Movies.
  • Drag the left edge of the screen to the right to open the Movies home screen menu, then browse through the different categories and to the video file that you want to edit.
  • Touch and hold the video thumbnail, then tap Clear info.

To delete a video

  • From your Home screen, tap Apps icon, then find and tap Movies.
  • Drag the left edge of the screen to the right to open the Movies home screen menu, then browse through the different categories and to the video file that you want to delete.
  • Touch and hold the video thumbnail, then tap Delete from the list that appears.
  • Tap Delete again to confirm.
