Major retailer Walmart has launched its own payment solution called Walmart Pay, which uses age-old QR codes and do not need new point-of-sales hardware. To use Walmart Pay, users have can pull up their Walmart app, head to the appropriate tab and scan the QR code that shows up on a terminal with your smartphone’s camera,. A linked credit or debit card takes the bill.

While an NFC payment solution like Android Pay, Apple Pay, or Samsung Pay are very convenient less finicky and more secure, they lack the ability tie your debit and credit card transactions to store reward cards and saving receipts in one-step.

Announced late last year, Walmart Pay is starting to roll out to iPhone users in the latest version of the Walmart app for iOS.

What is New in Version 6.8?

Compared to other NFC Payment, Walmart Pay does have its benefits to both the retailer and shopper. Walmart gathers more data of course and the actual payment process is less convenient, but shoppers collect digital receipts and have an easier experience tracking savings.
