Last year there were rumors of Apple introducing split-screen multi-tasking for iPad with iOS 8. However, that feature never made into iOS 8. Now according to 9to5Mac, iOS 9 may bring split-screen multi-tasking for iPad.

WWDC 2015 will be coming up in early June and at the event, Apple is expected to offer up some details on their upcoming iOS 9 update, and split-screen multitasking is one of the features rumored to make its debut. The idea will be similar to other split-screen multitasking features found on other devices where users can run apps side by side and operate them simultaneously.

According to 9to5Mac, users can choose to run apps in 1/2, 1/3, or 2/3 views depending on the app in question. Users can also choose to multitask multiple apps, or choose to multitask with a single app, like viewing two different tabs at once in Safari or different documents on Pages to compare them side by side, a handy feature for users who want to make quick references.

However, their sources warn them that there is still a chance that the feature might be pulled before next month’s conference. Apparently, there is still quite a bit of work left to be done to bring it to the same level as other features that will make its debut in iOS 9 beta, but here is hoping that we will get to see it anyway.
