After many user complaints on their official forum, Apple has finally admitted that there is an issue with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus that causes the battery percentage indicator in the status bar not to update as the battery itself drains. Apple acknowledge this issue in a recently posted support document.

Strangely Apple blames this issue on time zone changes and claims that when you change time zones or when the time is changed on your handset manually, iOS has problem with calculating remaining battery charge.

If you change the time on your iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus manually or change time zones when traveling, you might notice that the battery percentage doesn’t update.

Apple says that it is investigating the issue and working on a solution and in the meantime, users experiencing the problem are advised to restart their devices and make sure the time is being automatically set in Settings. The issue here is that you may not realize the battery percentage number has not changed for awhile, so it would be hard to know that you need to reboot or check your Date & Time settings.

We hope Apple will address the issue in a future software update and as soon as we get some more details we will let you guys know.
