Android Apps Support For Windows 10 May Be On The Way
Recent rumor is that Microsoft may allow Android Apps to run on Windows 10 devices and will make a formal announcement at Build 2015 developer conference in San Francisco. The rumor came from long time Microsoft journalist Paul Thurrott, who has many reliable sources within Microsoft.
For some time Microsoft was considering adding Android Apps support to Windows, allowing Windows users to run their favorite Android apps. If the rumor is true, this will solve one of the biggest problem Microsoft is facing in its mobile platform i.e. lack of apps.
If Microsoft did announce Android App support, then it has setup their own Android Store like Amazon. There is also possibility that they will only have few most wanted Android apps to force developers to develop for Windows Phone.
This move, if it happens, may also have a worst case scenario, by making Windows a redundant platform for mobile devices and I bet many Windows fans will hate the idea that their favorite OS becoming a glorified launcher for Android Apps. In addition, it makes developers from investing in developing Apps for Windows phone.
If it is true, it will be interesting to see how this will affect Microsoft’s own universal app strategy for native Windows 10 apps. Right now, it is just rumor and we have to wait for Microsoft’s Build 2015 conference to know more.
