Google Chrome’s Sandbox Hacked

vupenhack chromeThe VUPEN Security is now claimed that it has finally managed to hack Google’s Chrome browser and crack it’s so called “Sandbox.” According to them, the exploit relies on some newly discovered zero day vulnerabilities, works on all Windows Operating Systems and could give malicious websites the ability to download code from remote source and executes it on the user’s computer. In this the Windows Calculator app is downloaded and run automatically. Google says that its unable to confirm the hack since VUPEN hasn’t shared any details with it. Google And YouTube Movies Rentals

Quadrocopters Formation Flying From GRASP Labs

quadrocoptersThe University of Pennsylvania’s GRASP Lab has already taught its autonomous quadrocopters to move in packs, fly through hoops, and build things on their own, and it’s now they released the video of them. The quadrocopters are now able to take cues from a leader and fly in formation. They can even continue with the formation if one losses communication and falls out of the pack, which the researchers note is the key to the success of any swarm. Robots Learn To March

robotsWe have got some dire news: The simply miniature Roombas as they may appear, but 15 so called Khepera bots capable of spelling out GRITS (for Georgia Robotics Intelligent Systems) to demonstrate grad student Edward MacDonald’s Master’s thesis for the department. The diminutive robots are not told where to go in letters, they determine their spots through control algorithm, positioning themselves relative to their fellow rolling machines, if one is removed from the equation, they will quickly reform the letter without it. Xfinity 3G/4G MiFi Launched By Comcast

xfinityComcast is just now jumping with the bandwidth-sharing bandwagon by offering a mobile hotspot. The same Novatel 3G/4G MiFi from Sprint that is been putting internet access in our pockets for a month, only this one features an Xfinity badge and cheaper price tag. The Now Network version costs $80, Comcast’s Internet get the device for $25 on a one year contract. The service is only $40 a month for the same Clearwire coverage that costs $50 from Sprint. Continental Launches Stereo Camera System For Seeing Cars

continentalContinental’s new stereo system spots people, pets and other objects in a vehicle’s path and measures their height, distance from the vehicle, and how they are moving. This Continental’s ContiGuard safety system uses difference in the lenses’ optical paths to make these calculations. The company also says the cameras are sharp enough to detect partially obscured objects, and claims accuracy within 20 to 30 centimeters. For more details read the press release.

Researchers Create Ultra Fiber Optics, Sets New Record

internetJapan has tested two separate 100 terabit per second data links that use single optical fiber to carry their loads. New Scientist reports that the NEC scholars stuffed the light from 370 lasers into 165 kilometres of fiber to achieve a speed of 101.7 Tbps, while NICT researchers set a new record of 109 Tbps using a special fiber with seven cores to manage it.

Researchers Build Robot Inspired By Caterpillars

caterpillarroboThe Researchers from Tufts University have built a robot that is able to mimic the way a caterpillar balls itself up to bounce away from predators. As you see the videos we had given, while the robot is quite bigger than the actual bug, is does indeed to do a good caterpillar intimation. The researchers says that the “ballistic rolling” behaviour could be used to improve on some of the many existing robots that are modelled on worms or snakes – which could let them fling themselves into disaster area, and then wiggle around to aid in search and rescue operations. Coalition Of Companies Creates WebM CCL

cclWhen Google unveiled its WebM open source media format and declared it to be the one codec to rule all others, there were those who decried its usefulness and felt that H.264 should inherit the earth. WebM’s power converted some of those, and rally to more to the VP8 / Vorbis cause, 17 companies have now formed the WebM community Cross – License (CCL) initiative by inter-mingling their WebM-related IP resources. The passion for streamlining web standards and a willingness to spread the word about WebM couldn’t hurt.

Yahoo Buys TV Companion App Developer IntoNow

intonowIntoNow launched its iPhone app that can identify what TV show you are watching by audio Shazam-style and then share it with others over Facebook or Twitter, pull in additional information or add the DVD to your Netfilx queue. Yahoo has purchased the company now. It wants to integrate its SoundPrint tech with its existing services including connected TV platform.
