Acer now founding itself grappling with data breach, it has reportedly cost in the details of over 40,000 customers. The details includes their names, emails addresses, phone numbers, addresses, also names of products purchased by the customers. Japan’s NHK Science & Technology Laboratories has announced a new animated translation system to help get important news for deaf viewers. While televised subtitles may work for those who understand the language, people who are born deaf and learned sign language from an early age can significantly more difficulty. The system unveiled at Technology Open House 2011, bypasses this problem by automatically comparing Japanese text to sign language, converting equivalent words into animated onscreen gestures, and replacing differing words with appropriate synonyms. The ultimate goal is to create a system that could be used during emergencies or natural disasters, allowing deaf people to receive urgent broadcasts as instantly as their hearing competitors. Twitter announced its own integrated photo-sharing service, will launch “over the next several weeks,” and lets you upload the images and attach it directly to tweet from Twitter. The functionality is going to hit the mobile apps soon. The service is parented through the Photobucket to actually host the photos. Opera released the version 6.0 of its Mini Mobile Browser, which has support for all iOS devices, including iPad, and iPad2, and a specific shortcut for iPhone 4 retina display. The Security nightmare just continues, plenty of Sony’s executives beginning to wish someone would pinch them already. It taken a PR and financial beating over the PSN breach, now the Greek site of Sony BMG has been hacked and account info of thousands of users has been posted online. According to Naked Security, the attack does not appear to have been particularly sophisticated and was carried out using an automated SQL injection tool that demands more patience and skill. The dump reveals usernames, real names, and email addresses of Sony registered users (SonyMusic.gr customers), other fields including passwords, telephone numbers are either empty or contain fake data – suggests that hack was not entirely successful.

Android Central points out Google support document that details the “Failed to fetch license for (movie title) error 49 message users will see when they try to play on a rooted device. Only Xooms with Android 3.1 have the access to the service right now, but support rolls out to all Android 2.2 or higher devices in a couple of weeks some had to choose between their superuser privileges and Google’s nascent movie offerings. So far rooting and jailbreaking hasn’t put a stop to other movie rental services for mobiles so even if Google blames the movie studios for the policy, it will be a odd restriction for the company behind the “open” platform to have.

TiVo announced it would offer Hulu Plus in Spetember we are still waiting for it to arrive on those Premiere DVRs. Twitter user dlayphoto spotted these materials in local Best Buy promising six months for the $7.99/month service for free with purchase of a new box with a new price tag. The URL on the card leads to a page where TiVo owners can input their serial number and e-mail address to get access. The recent Boxee Box1.1 update fixes the surround sound problems, brings back volume control. The company has completed the work on the fix and released the version v1.1.1 update.
