To bookmark a book that you are reading on Kindle, Amazon uses a technology called Whispersync that automatically saves the last page you are reading but you can still place a permanent bookmark for future references. To add a bookmark
Press the ‘Menu’ button.
Select ‘Add a Bookmark’. The page will now appear folded down in the upper right corner.
You can view all your bookmarks by pressing the ‘Menu’ button from the book and selecting ‘View Notes & Marks’.
