A recent price drop brought its cost down to just $280, and hackers have even managed to overclock its processor to 1.4 GHz and get it running CyanogenMod7 to boot. Now Viewsonic has itself had given a boost to the tablet, with a new firmware update bringing support for both flash and USB peripherals. It can apparently also be used as a docking station.

This is what we heard; ASUS’ Eee Pad Slider would pack a Tegra 2 processor just like the Eee Pad Transformer. There is now some pretty strong evidence is it might not be the case, with Intel letting slip that the Slider would actually pack its brand new Atom Z670 processor instead of NVIDIA’s one. The Intel’s press page following the announcement for the new Atom processor, its since been removed – suggesting that it was either a colossal mistake or a reveal that was a bit premature for ASUS’ liking.

There is no official announcement yet about the Veer’s launch by HP, but we guess that the launch of the device will be on May 2nd. Because the Precentral Reader stumbled that what looks like an official invitation to an HP Veer Launch Party Event in Los Angeles on that date. The day AT&T is hosting a webOS3.0 developer webcast – which might be worth attending in and of itself – but particularly noted given that Hp hasn’t announced carriers for the Veer or SIM slot packing HP TouchPad yet.

The Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 got in the hands of Tinhte.vn’s make them a super slender working model. The Vietnamese site that has been leaking delicious Apple prototypes – not to mention the HP TouchPad’s SIM Slot – found the 0.33-inch thin slate at an unnamed Samsung booth, powered it up, and proceeded to dive into the sticky- sweet mess of Android3.0 and iPad2 comparisons that such a discovery affords. Evolve Three’s goal of creating the World’s most powerful versatile touchscreen tablets seems to be going well so far. Maestro C table specs are 1.5GHz Intel Atom Z670 inside processor, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, and it also got a physically rotates – turning into a kickstand and exposing ports at the same time and a removable keyboard that doubles as hard-shell protector for the entire touchscreen. There is also a 32GB high performance SSD and optional 3G connectivity, a pair of stereo speakers once again, and the main thing here is three Operating Systems (Android 3.0, MeeGo and Windows 7) to choose from at start up. The only thing worrying is the price $729 as starting one.

A reader at Precentral sent what it purports to be a confidential Power Point Presentation indicating the TouchPad will launch with an HP-branded music and movie store, as well as a smart syncing service that caches frequently accessed media for playback. Discover Card Holders Can Send Money Through Cell Phone And Email Address

The NFC payment systems just starting rolling out in the US, Discover has just announced that it will let its card holders send money to people in 60 countries. So as long as they have either a cell phone number or email address, they can their money through them. As All Things D notes, Visa and American Express have hatched similar plans, though Discover is the first the bunch to partner with PayPal. While people sending money don’t need PayPal accounts, people receiving one have do, at least they must be willing to create one. For senders the service is free and in fact, they got 0.25 percent cash back for the first $3,000 exchanged. As for Discover, a smaller player than Visa and MasterCard, it hopes some of PayPal’s $230 million customers will sign up for a new credit card while they are at it.

Samsung said its Android 2.3 update for Galaxy S would come in mid-April and sometime between 15th and 16th of this month, the Korean manufacturer’s Kies servers started serving up a fresh portion of Gingerbread to Galaxy S owners in parts of Europe. Nintendo Wii’s prices came in sites like Toys R Us and best buy; both of them already have the motion controlled console on sale for $170 today. This doesn’t seems to be a permanent price cut, hence it is noted as “Limited Time Offer!”, but we should not be surprised if other retailers follow the suit in order. Samsung said its Android Gingerbread update for the Galaxy S would be made available in mid April and they kept their word. Sometime during the night between the 15th and 16th Samsung's Kies servers started serving up the Android Gingerbread update to Galaxy S owners in parts of Europe and now reports are coming in of users successfully updating their Hummingbird-equipped handsets.
